Playgrounds for Tabernacle Baptist Church

At Ultimate Recreation, we thrive on turning unique spaces into functional and creative recreational areas. One of our most rewarding projects was for Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hickory, NC. The church had purchased an old shopping center and converted it into a private school, and we were tasked with designing and installing multiple playgrounds for different age groups.

Designing Playgrounds for Every Age Group

This project required thoughtful planning and design to create engaging and safe play areas for children of all ages. To meet their needs, we installed multiple playground areas, each with unique features and surfaces.

Multiple Surfaces for Maximum Fun

We incorporated a variety of surfaces to ensure functionality and fun for the kids:

• Two PIP trike tracks: These tracks surrounded two play areas, giving kids a designated path to walk or ride their trikes.

• Artificial turf: We installed turf in the center of the trike track areas, providing a soft and safe surface for play.

• PIP game area: Another area featured PIP surfacing designed for games like 4-square and hopscotch, creating a dedicated space for group play and activities.

Adding Shade, Seating, and More

To make the playgrounds more comfortable and inviting, we installed several amenities:

• Single post shade: A large shade structure that provided coverage for both trike track areas, keeping kids cool and protected.

• Benches: Seating for teachers, parents, and kids to relax and enjoy the space.

• Cantilever shade: On the larger turf area, we added a cantilever shade to create a relaxing, shaded space.

A Large Playground Unit with Integrated Shade

For the largest playground unit, we incorporated a large integrated shade structure to keep the equipment cool and protect the kids from the sun. This area also featured:

• All-turf surfacing: A durable and soft play area.

• A swing seat: Adding variety and excitement to the play experience.

• Additional benches: Ensuring plenty of seating for relaxation.

A Space Designed for Fun and Learning

The result is a collection of thoughtfully designed playgrounds that cater to children of all ages. From trike tracks and turf to shaded relaxation areas and interactive PIP game surfaces, this project transformed an old shopping center into a vibrant space for play, learning, and growth.
